Summary

It’s been one year since Eden and Tyler didn’t see themselves. Indeed, Tyler was in New York to talk about the story with his father and Eden because she was studying for her last year in highschool in Santa Monica. But Tyler decides to change this : he invites Eden in New York. Eden accepts even if she is in a relationship with Dean and even if Dean doesn’t want her to go there. Tyler seems to move on something else since their break up with Eden. Yet the tension which links them sets up as soon as they see each other...

Criticism

This second volume was also a firm favorite. In fact, the story and the characters improved. In this book, the main part of the plot takes place in New York. This geographic change gives a breath of fresh air to DIMILY (or may I say DIMINI for this one). New York allows Tyler and Eden to discover them through the city’s visit. The setting of the story also allows us to discover New York and its traditions. We are immersed in New York’s world, we visit the Big Apple with Eden and Tyler (and it’s pretty cool). Moreover, who says a new place says new characters. Indeed we will meet Snake and others characters but also old characters that changed and evolved a lot. In this second volume, the psychological part is very important, and I would say even more important than in the first volume. The character’s evolution is striking, and this point makes for me a real difference with other novels. Besides the originality is amplified by the romance section. Here Estelle Maskame mixes two romances in one character : Eden. Beside the situation is more complicated as it seems because of Tyler and Eden’s links. At several times we are surprised by the character’s way to act and by several turnarounds in the story, that are the reasons of my love for this second volume.

Concerning the characters, I was very glad to meet them again. It was a real pleasure to discover a better version of themselves. Tyler has so much improved that I was almost (completely) proud of him. When we look how far he has come and where he is now, we can’t help doing smile. During the story, we meet a new Tyler : he is happy and pacified but don’t worry, his personality is not totally erased. Eden’s personality is improved too. I find her more free, she lets herself live despite all the conditions, she follows her heart and she’s more spontaneous. She surprises us because she grew up mentally. In this second volume, New York is the place for the main characters to chose the life they want. All the characters (including the ones of the first volume) are gathered in one place and show their real faces. Some of the first volume are still the same ones but some are getting worse. Eden and Tyler have to do the good choice of people they want in their lives.

Final conclusion

I loved reading this second volume because it invites us to travel. The plot is suspenseful, like the characters who bring this to the story with their actions.  AND there are many symbols about the romance which set up.

So are you going to read it ?

Other information

After publishing DIMILY saga, Estelle Maskame made a journey to Usa and took photos at symbolic places, which were important in the story.

The song

Proud, Aaron Carpenter because I think that the lyrics are a good representation of Tyler’s feelings and emotions about Eden when he was alone in New York.
